Legends Gallery La Jolla

January 2019 Vol. 01

Dear Friends and Collectors,
Well Happy New Year!!! and Welcome...
To Legends Gallery's First Newsletter!

BIG DISCLAIMER This monthly news letter will be in addition to the new release and gallery event emails to give more details about what’s going on at Legends, features and special items. We completely understand if you would prefer to just receive the new release emails and there is an unsubscribe button at the bottom of the mail. We have kept our attitude about email contact as less is more but after numerous requests for more information and details about the gallery we thought a monthly news letter would cover that nicely!

Passing of Audrey Geisel

We were saddened to hear the news of...

Audrey Geisel... You could not say enough about her stewardship of the Seuss Legacy over the last 27 years. Bringing his work around the world through the many movie projects, sharing his private artwork with the world, the doubling and more of book sales worldwide. More people than ever before have been exposed to the wonderful Seuss Universe and it’s  popularity is at an all time high. What I think does not get enough attention was her incredibly generous charity work. The Seuss Foundation and Funding Read Across America was in the public eye but the numerous projects charities and institutions here in Southern California she helped fund did not get the attention it deserved, perhaps by design.  At 97, she passed peacefully at home in La Jolla, CA December 2018. She will be missed.

that if only you would try them... you WOULD like green eggs and ham!

If it doesn’t exist... we can just make it up!

Tom Everhart

If you have been into the gallery over the last few months you might have noticed something bright exciting and NEW! We are thrilled to bring the Art of Tom Everhart to La Jolla!

In 1980, Tom Everhart was introduced to cartoonist Charles M. Schulz at Schulz’s studios in Santa Rosa, California. A few weeks prior to their meeting, Everhart, having absolutely no education in cartooning, found himself involved in a freelance project that required him to draw and present Peanuts renderings to Schulz’s studios. Preparing as he would the drawings and studies for his large-scale skeleton / nature related paintings; he blew up some of the cartoonist’s strips on a twenty-five foot wall in his studio which eliminated the perimeter lines of the cartoon box, leaving only the marks of the cartoonist. Schulz’s painterly pen stroke, now larger than life, translated into painterly brush strokes and was now a language that overwhelmingly connected to Everhart’s own form of expression and communication. Completely impressed with Schulz’s line, he was able to reproduce the line art almost exactly, which in turn impressed Schulz at their meeting. It was directly at this time that Everhart confirmed his obsession with Schulz’s line art style and their ongoing relationship of friendship and education of his line construction.
